Radar Operations Center

Engineering Branch

The Engineering Branch provides sustaining engineering to correct deficiencies, address hardware obsolescence and implement long-term system improvements to meet mission needs and security requirements. It provides project management for reliability improvements and new technical capability changes to the ROC-supported systems: WSR-88D, TDWR SPG, NPN and their associated interfaces. This includes maintaining design integrity by analyzing, designing, developing, prototyping, integrating, testing, and documenting system changes through a process of engineering change proposals, configuration change requests, cost estimation, design review, technical documentation, test plans, and implementation schedules.

Hardware Engineering

Provides sustaining engineering to the NEXRAD program and Level II support of operational radar issues.

Software Engineering

Provides support for users of the WSR-88D system, including: development, maintenance, enhancement, and problem analysis.

Systems Engineering

Provides technical consulting services on the NEXRAD network, computer systems, and telecommunications equipment.

Radar Product Improvement

Provides radar functionality and interoperability improvements between radar systems and AWIPS.
